Year in Review

Damn, this year went fast.

Flights

This year I did 14 flights, over 15,590mi. That’s by far the most I’ve done in a year. Four of them were on Southwest, and the remaining ten were on Delta. As this was the year that I switched away from Southwest. Due to them starting to charge for bags.

My top three aircraft types were the A220-300 (3), B737-700 (3), and the A321 (2). With my “favorite” seat being 31C, having sat in it three times.

I’m pretty happy with 14 flights. Though, this being me, I’m always down for more. I already have one on the books for next month.

The Blog

The most major change I made here, was how the blog post page deals with years. The page is broken down into sections, with posts form that year. The way I was handling that, was just manually defining years in Hugo, with some checks. I had enough manually defined years to handle out to 2028. But, I didn’t like that. So I finally sat down, and got Hugo to handle that automatically.

I will admit, I did get some help from a magic eight ball. But, It does what I want, I don’t have to update with new years, and I learned some more Hugo.

I also added links to drafts, to open them in IA writer. Its a small thing, that’s super handy.

Photos

According to Lightroom, I shot over 7,000 photos this year. A little over 6,000 of those were on one lens. My SIGMA 150-600.

I also picked up a new lens. A Sony 90mm f2.8 G Macro. This things is super sharp, and I am loving it. This was also the first I bought used. Seeing how much I saved1, I’m hooked.

Safe to say, I’ve gotten pretty into this hobby.

The New Year

I am going on a short trip in a couple weeks to a cool museum. A trip that will FINALLY, have me getting back on an airplane. It’s been almost six months since I last flew. And that’s too damn long for me.

The main things I’m hoping for next year, is getting into better shape2, and to do more with my favorite hobbies.

So long 2025, and hello 2026.
