Goodbye, Ultra

Apple Watch

Today I traded in my 1st gen Apple Watch Ultra, for a Series 10.

A Watch for a Watch

Even after using the Ultra for two years, it never really grew on me. Yeah, the borderline indestructible-ness of it was great, but I just never really liked how it looked.

So, I popped into the Pentagon City Apple Store, and did a trade in. Picking up a jet black Series 10 (46mm with LTE).

Thin

I must say, the Series 10 is thin. Like thinner that any other Apple Watch, and any other watch I’ve worn.

Apple quotes the same battery life as the older, thicker Series watches. It’ll be less than the Ultra, but I can live with that.

Tap Tap

One thing my original Ultra didn’t have, that this does, is the fancy double tap gesture. This lets you trigger some actions, without touching the watch, handy. Here’s an example of dismissing a timer.

It works pretty well, and you don’t have to tap your finger that hard at all.

Watching Time

I don’t regret doing this. I’ve always liked smart watches (my first was the original Pebble), and the S10 just looks more like a smart watch. I like it.

Side note: The subway1 in the Pentagon City shopping center is pretty good.
