G Glass

Photography

So I picked up another lens. And I would be lying if I said I hadn’t been lusting after this one, since I first saw it. A tight, simi fast macro lens with insane sharpness. A Sony 90mm f2.8 Macro G.

Good Glass

Most lens manufacturer split their lens lineup, between “high end”, and everything else. Canon L, Nikon/Nikkor S. Sony splits their high end lensed into two. G, for the lower/medium high end. And GM, for the top shelf stuff. This 90mm is a G, and my first “high end” lens.

And boy does it show. Most people online consider this to one one of the sharpest lenses ever made. Couple that with it being able to focus for macro… Yeah.

Here’s a couple high res shots of a Christmas tree.

I didn’t quite nail the focus on that second one1, but that first one. Let’s just say I think I’m really going to like using this thing.

  1. These were 20ish second long exposures. ↩︎
